The Pfarreitheater Mindelheim was founded on the initiative of the trainee priest Bernd Rochna<ref>[https://bistum-augsburg.de/Nachrichten/Pfarrer-Bernd-Udo-Rochna-verstorben_id_0] Nachruf Bernd Rochna</ref> with experience in amateur theatre. The idea was inspired by the existing stage in the parish hall of the parish centre. The parish of Mindelheim actively supported the foundation by making the parish hall available for rehearsals and performances. The sacristan was particularly helpful in providing private stage lighting, as there were no other props or technology available. The stage itself, a 3-sided wooden wall construction with the option of installing windows or doors, was built by a parishioner. The cost of the materials was advanced by the parish and later paid for by the income from successful performances.

The premiere of the first play took place on 31 October 2014, after rehearsals started in autumn 2013. Due to high demand, the first play was performed five times, including an additional performance. The Pfarreitheater now offers six performances, including a dress rehearsal with a test audience. The theatre group has now developed a well-established routine. The theatre year begins on Holy Saturday with a meeting to present and select possible plays for the coming year. == Members ==
The Pfarreitheater consists of ten active members, five women and five men, plus four inactive members (from 2023). Until 2022, all members, with the exception of the prompter, were active both on stage and backstage. Their involvement included various tasks such as set construction, publicity, prop finding, set design and directing.

In 2023 the theatre planned to expand the team with more helpers, especially for backstage. This expansion aimed to increase the efficiency and versatility of the theatre's production by allowing dedicated team members to take on specific areas of responsibility. For 2024 onwards they managed to recruite two committed new members (from 2025) for this task which allowed the active members to focus more on the practicing of acting itself.

Since 2025 the group also has a prompters box for their prompter, thanks to the new stage builders.

The theatre company was founded by members of the shooting club with the aim of promoting enjoyment and the desire to do good, as well as to cultivate camaraderie and singing. The inaugural meeting was attended by 15 people.

The first performances took place in the "Stern" inn, until it burned down in 1929, with the loss of scenery and borrowed costumes. The company then moved to the "Rößle", where performances were held for many years. It was not until 1985 that the performances were moved to the Oyer Kurhaus.

With the outbreak of the Second World War on 1 September 1939, the Oy Theatre Society temporarily suspended its activities. It resumed on Easter Monday 1946, when the board gave potatoes, butter, wood and coal to the landlady, Mrs Zimmermann, in return for the use of the Rößle hall.

The company made its first donation in 1946. Since then it has regularly supported various organisations and associations, including a donation in 1971 for the construction of the new church in Oy.

In 2012 Oy Theatre Society became a registered association. The audience for the performances is often made up of spa guests and holidaymakers, which has led to the members moderating their dialect in order to be understood by visitors from other regions.

The theatre tradition in Wald began in 1910 with the performances of "Die Räuber auf Maria Kulm und Ida von Toggenburg", historical plays staged in the Gasthaus Zur Post under the direction of Xaver Eberle. The first stage constructions were provisional, consisting of a platform made of beer crates and stage boards supplied by a carpenter, while the scenery was provided free of charge by a master painter. Everything else, including the costumes, was provided by the company itself. According to the chronicle, 380 people attended the first three performances. Eberle staged three more plays before the outbreak of war in 1914.

In 1921 a new theatre group was formed from the boys' club. The performances took place in the hall of the Koch inn, the clubhouse of the Burschenverein. Financial problems and stage conditions were a challenge. From 1926 there was a gradual transition to popular plays, including rural farmer and poacher plays. In 1934 the group moved to the Gasthaus zur Post, which had a new 200-seat hall with a stage. The first performance on this new stage in 1935 was a great success, with over 800 people in attendance. However, theatre in the Third Reich became increasingly difficult due to Nazi censorship, and only three more plays were staged before 1938. The Second World War and the destruction of the stage by invading troops initially paralysed the theatre.

In 1954 the theatre resumed its activities in the Gasthaus Post. With the construction of a permanent stage in the new school gymnasium, where plays were performed every year until 1960, the theatre group reached a record attendance of 1420 spectators with the play "Der Wilderer von Bayrischzell". Despite interruptions due to director changes and renovations, the theatre performances continued.

In 1990 the Wald Theatre Group joined the Bavarian Amateur Theatre Association. In 1994, the play "Die wilde Hilde" set a new attendance record with 1,812 spectators in ten performances and marked a reorientation towards boulevard comedies in the choice of plays. In 2000, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary, the group became the registered non-profit association "Theatergruppe Wald e.V.".

Everything else, including the costumes, was provided by the company itself. According to the chronicle, 380 people attended the first three performances. Eberle staged three more plays before the outbreak of war in 1914.

In 1921 a new theatre group was formed from the boys' club. The performances took place in the hall of the Koch inn, the clubhouse of the Burschenverein. Financial problems and stage conditions were a challenge. From 1926 there was a gradual transition to popular plays, including rural farmer and poacher plays. In 1934 the group moved to the Gasthaus zur Post, which had a new 200-seat hall with a stage. The first performance on this new stage in 1935 was a great success, with over 800 people in attendance. However, theatre in the Third Reich became increasingly difficult due to Nazi censorship, and only three more plays were staged before 1938. The Second World War and the destruction of the stage by invading troops initially paralysed the theatre.

In 1954 the theatre resumed its activities in the Gasthaus Post. With the construction of a permanent stage in the new school gymnasium, where plays were performed every year until 1960, the theatre group reached a record attendance of 1420 spectators with the play "Der Wilderer von Bayrischzell". Despite interruptions due to director changes and renovations, the theatre performances continued.

In 1990 the Wald Theatre Group joined the Bavarian Amateur Theatre Association. In 1994, the play "Die wilde Hilde" set a new attendance record with 1,812 spectators in ten performances and marked a reorientation towards boulevard comedies in the choice of plays. In 2000, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary, the group became the registered non-profit association "Theatergruppe Wald e.V.".

== History ==

There is a long tradition of theatre in Oberbeuren, dating back to the annual Christmas celebrations of the Catholic Boys' Association. As early as 1926, short plays were performed as part of these celebrations, as evidenced by the oldest surviving programme. This tradition continued under the direction of Narziß Hofmeier, who rehearsed and performed plays with the association every spring.

In 1983 Peter Lehmann took over the management of the theatre in Oberbeuren. The "Grüner Baum" inn served as the club's stage. The association financially supported the Soldiers' and Sick Association with a large number of comedies. On 2 March 1991 the independent association "D'Oberbeurer Bühne" was founded.

After the closure and demolition of the "Grüner Baum" inn, Oberbeuren experienced a period of three years without theatre performances. The association bridged this period with performances at Christmas parties, carnival balls and village festivals. In 1996 the group found a new home in the parish hall of St Dionysius. At this time Karl Köberle joined the band as music director, a position he held until 2006.

In 2006, Monika Schmid, who had previously worked as an actress for 19 years, took over as director of the theatre association "D'Oberbeurer Bühne". After the Second World War, Anton Roll built on the success of previous performances. In 1947 the play 'Der Trompeter von Säckingen' was performed in the Gasthaus Krone with 20 young actors, almost all of them making their stage debut. The play was so successful that it had to be performed twice on the same evening because of the large audience.

Plays were performed every year until 1980. After that, a lack of new members led to a temporary suspension of performances.

In 1984 the theatre tradition was revived at the suggestion of Mayor Anton Fleck. Under the direction of Johann Schmid, the play 'D'r Großvater'r und sein Nepomuk' was performed for the first time in the newly built multi-purpose hall instead of the Gasthaus Krone. The Pfarreitheater Mindelheim was founded on the initiative of a trainee priest with experience in amateur theatre. The idea was inspired by the existing stage in the parish hall of the parish centre. The parish of Mindelheim actively supported the foundation by making the parish hall available for rehearsals and performances. == History ==
The committee of the club consists of nine members: the first and second chairman, the director, the treasurer, the secretary, the technical director and three assessors. The Club rehearses and performs in the hall belonging to the Gasthaus Krone in Zaisertshofen.

The Club's annual schedule is as follows: At the beginning of the club year, which begins on the first of October, rehearsals for the current play are in full swing. The Annual General Meeting is held on the Monday of the fair. The premiere of the play is always on the last Sunday in October, with performances on Saturdays and Sundays (occasionally on Fridays or the day before All Saints' Day), depending on audience response. The season comes to an end at the latest before Christmas.

The end of the season is in March. The search for a new play and suitable actors begins in April. In July the company organises a summer party for all active players and helpers. At the end of July the first rehearsals for the new play begin. From the beginning of September, rehearsals take place on stage three times a week.

Away from the stage, the theatre group is also involved in the local life. It takes part in the Zaisonarria carnival parade with a float entitled "Die weissblaue Komödie" (The white-blue comedy), which takes a humorous look at local or regional themes.
