History

The group started in 1989 as an informal circle of people who wanted to put on theatre in Walting, before it became an association. Three of its members, Manfred Strauß, Peter Glaßner and Stefan Strauß, had been involved since the first production, and the group marked its 35th anniversary at its summer party in 2024.[3] Lampengeist in 2025 was its 25th production since 1989.[4]

Repertoire

The group performs rural comedies and farces in three acts. From 1989 to 2019 it played mostly at Easter; since 2023 it has performed in summer in the open air at the Blombauer farm in Rapperszell.[2][4] In 2026 it gave Ralph Wallner's Der Vampir von Zwickelbach on four summer evenings, two of which sold out in advance.[5]
