The Schwoagara Dorfbühne Kunst und Kultur e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Schwaig, a district of Neustadt an der Donau in the district of Kelheim, Lower Bavaria, Germany. The roots of the group go back to 1947, when the Burschenverein of Schwaig staged its first plays. Its productions were led by Franz Widmann in the 1950s and 1960s, Emil Hauber sen. (1978–1990), Christian Hauber (1991–1998) and Günter Schweiger (1999); the 1999 production Die goldene Gans is remembered as a particular success. In 2000 the Schwoagara Dorfbühne Kunst und Kultur e. V. was founded to carry on this tradition.[1] Besides theatre it organises traditional events, above all the Grenzland-Starkbierfest, held since 1997 with satirical sketches on politics (Starkbier festival).[1][3]

Venue
The association is based at the Appel-Seitz-Stiftung, Mühlweg 5, in Schwaig, which supports it and where its productions are staged.[10][1][11]
