The Bayerische Volksbühne is an amateur theatre group of the Volkshochschule im Osten des Landkreises München (vhs olm), the adult education centre for the eastern part of the district of Munich, based in Aschheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It gave its first performance, Der Ehestreik, on 16 June 1976.[1][2]

History

Besides its stage productions, the group performed sketches at the Starkbierfest (strong beer festival) in Kirchheim for 17 years from 1999 to 2015 and a strong beer programme in Landsham from 2006 to 2015. From 2002 to 2019 it presented an end-of-year review with stories and scenes (dezemberln), and from 2016 to 2019 a series of crime comedies under the motto Kiram Krimmi. On 25 March 2023 it premiered its first self-written play, Déjà-vu – ois scho moi g'sehng.[2]

Repertoire

The group describes itself as a non-commercial Bavarian theatre devoted to Bavarian culture, dialect and folk theatre.[3]
