D' Etzahausa Theatara e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Etzenhausen, a district of Dachau, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1988, it stages a Bavarian comedy in the open air each summer.[1]
History
At the 1988 Christmas party of the Etzenhausen shooting club (Schützenverein Einigkeit "Dorfgemeinschaft" Etzenhausen e. V.), some young members performed a sketch they had written themselves. The audience's enthusiasm led to the founding of a theatre club that same evening, with initial funds collected among the shooters. The farmer Hans Eberl provided his machinery shed as a stage; because the shed could not be heated, the plays were staged in summer, and the first premiere took place in summer 1989. After a two-year break the group returned in 2015 at a new venue.[1]
Repertoire
The group performs Bavarian comedies; it has also revived several plays, such as No amoi a Lausbua sei (1989 and 2006), Im Austrog (1993 and 2001) and D'Woidmui (1995 and 2008).[2]
