The Dramatischer Verein Niederwerrn 1952 e. V. (DVN) is an amateur theatre club in Niederwerrn near Schweinfurt, Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Its adult ensemble performs boulevard comedies in spring and autumn in the Niederwerrn community centre (Gemeindezentrum); the club also has a children's and youth group and a young adults' ensemble called Rampenlichter.[1]
History
The club has its roots in the local fruit and horticultural society (Obst- und Gartenbauverein), some of whose members formed a theatre group in autumn 1949. Encouraged by its early success, the initiator and director Ludwig Schramm and others founded the Dramatischer Verein Niederwerrn 1952 e. V. in 1952. In 1963 the club joined the Volksspielkunstverband Bayern (today the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V.) and the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater (BDAT), whose courses and seminars its members regularly attend. Since 2007 the older members of the youth group have performed as the Rampenlichter.[1] In December 2025 the club honoured members for 40 and 60 years of membership.[2]
Repertoire
The adult players stage a boulevard comedy each spring and each autumn, with five performances apiece, and also appear at carnival events and private or company parties with shows and sketches. The children's and youth group performs fairy tales, musicals and comedies on one weekend a year and short Christmas pieces in Advent.[1] The club also tours to venues outside Niederwerrn, where it says its Franconian-dialect performances are well received.[3]
The club's archive of adult productions, mostly undated, includes Rambazamba am Lido Makkaroni and 's Häusle mit Herz (1990), Man kann alles übertreiben (1991), Der nackte Wahnsinn (1992), Das Haus in Montevideo (1993, revived later), Charleys Tante, Boeing Boeing, Leberkäs und rote Strapse, Der Meisterboxer, Ladysitter and, most recently, Eine ganz heiße Nummer, as well as a series of crime dinner-theatre evenings (Krimi Theater) such as Tödliche Weinprobe, Vino Mortis and Mord im Café Hüftgold.[4]
