History
The ensemble first appeared in 2012, when a group of actors staged Jennerwein – Bluat vo da Gams at the Dorffestspielwochen in the open-air museum of the former ski racer Markus Wasmeier near Schliersee. In 2013 it returned there, for the first time under the name Grenztheater Ludwigs Erben; according to the group, the production drew about 3,000 spectators. For the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth in 2014, the association staged a Bavarian version of The Taming of the Shrew as open-air theatre at Schloss Elkofen near Grafing.[1] The production, titled Der Ziefern Zähmung, premiered in July 2014 and was sold out weeks in advance.[2]
In October 2016 the group staged the musical Der Watzmann ruft by Wolfgang Ambros, Manfred Tauchen and Joesi Prokopetz in the Stadthalle Grafing, directed by Sebastian Schlagenhaufer, the artistic director of the Stadthalle, who also played the narrator; the live music came from the band W.A.T. (Wolfgang Ambros Tribute).[3][4] Two additional performances followed on 10 and 11 March 2017 in the Theater am Burgerfeld in Markt Schwaben, in cooperation with the Theaterverein Markt Schwaben.[5]
