Theatre was played in Ettleben after the Second World War by the parish, the sports club TSV Ettleben and the local veterans' association; the last performance took place in 1974 in the TSV's old gymnasium, which was then demolished. When Ettleben hosted the annual citizens' festival of the Werneck municipality in 1989, the parish revived the tradition with Das Wunder des heiligen Florian in the new TSV gymnasium; the two planned performances sold out and a third was added. From 1991 the group played independently as the Laienspielgruppe Ettleben, and in 1994 it founded a registered association.[1]
Repertoire
The group plays mainly contemporary comedies and farces, several of them by Beate Irmisch, Regina Rösch and Bernd Gombold. It cancelled its productions in 2004 and from 2020 to 2022.[2] In October 2026 its youth theatre performed Ein Märchen aus unserer Zeit at the Kulturherbst on the Kleinkunstbühne – Alte Schule.[3]
