The Langenbrucker Theaterbühne e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Langenbruck, a village in the market town of Reichertshofen in the district of Pfaffenhofen, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1986, it stages a full-length folk play every January and a satirical strong-beer festival evening (Starkbierfest) in March on its own self-built stage in the Pfarrer-Wilhelm-Höfler-Halle.[1][2]
History
Theatre in Langenbruck goes back to the Catholic young men's association founded on 8 November 1931 by the local priest Wilhelm Höfler, which performed many plays at the Müllerwirt inn and in the parish hall. From 1971 the theatre group of the local sports club continued the tradition with one-act plays at Christmas parties, and in January 1978 it staged the two-act comedy Die 2 Weiberfeinde, Höfler's last production as director. In August 1986, on the initiative of Hermann Thalmeier, the group became the independent association Langenbrucker Theaterbühne e. V.[2]
From 1987 the association added the Starkbierfest, an evening of about ten sketches and one-act plays. In 1993 it hosted the district meeting of the Upper Bavarian amateur theatre association, and in 1996 it celebrated its tenth anniversary with the consecration of a club banner. In 1997 members spent 11,500 hours of voluntary work enlarging the stage extension of the parish hall, creating a 70 m² stage with a 9.5-metre fly tower, a lowerable forestage, dressing rooms and storage; the premiere of Faust in Langenbruck followed on 3 January 1998, the day after the inauguration. In summer 1999 the association staged the open-air play Die Katzenliesl with about 90 actors and hosted the annual meeting of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. From 2000 it helped renovate the auditorium of the hall, which is owned by the municipality, and in 2010 it opened its own three-storey storage building.[2]
Repertoire
The January productions are mostly Bavarian folk plays and comedies, but also include classics.[3][4]

Starkbierfest
The Theater-Starkbierfest, held since 1987 and every second year since 1993, opens with the Bavarian anthem sung with the audience, followed by a part designed by the youth group, the report of the "Engel Ambrosius" to his superior in heaven, sketches and a closing theatre ballet. The Pfaffenhofener Kurier has reported on it regularly.[5]
Organisation
The Langenbrucker Theaterbühne has an active youth section that also stages fairy tales from time to time.[1]
