History
For many decades the theatre group of the Kolping society in Schwarzenfeld had performed at Christmas and the New Year. In November 2017 its tradition was continued by a new association, the Miesbergbühne Schwarzenfeld.[2] The association was founded spontaneously, in parallel with the rehearsals for its first production. Many members came from the former Kolping theatre group, and some had first acted in Die Holnsteiner, a play staged by a group formed for Schwarzenfeld's millennium celebrations.[1]
The first production, the three-act comedy Der Sauna-Gigolo by Andreas Wening, premiered on 12 January 2018; Der neue Tag described it as an immediate audience hit, with three sold-out performances in the full hall of the Restaurant Miesberg.[3] The group's fourth production, Ach du lieber Gott, followed in January 2024 after a break of almost four years caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which had begun shortly after the last performance of Außer Kontrolle in January 2020. By then the group had played to audiences of up to 300 per performance.[2]
Repertoire
The Miesbergbühne plays comedies and crime comedies. According to its director, plays are chosen mainly by the number of roles and how well they suit the available actors; a production requires about 25 to 30 rehearsals and is given four times.[2]
