History
The association was active by 2003, when it staged Stoapfalz by Horst Wolf Müller, directed by the Hamburg theatre artist Nikol Putz, who also directed and designed its 2004 production of Hans Henny Jahnn's Armut, Reichtum, Mensch und Tier.[4] For the 2013 garden show in Tirschenreuth the group performed its own production about the linguist Johann Andreas Schmeller in the Fischhof, and in autumn 2013 it revived its production Cash four times in the Kettelerhaus.[5]
Since May 2014, when the town marked the 650th anniversary of its first documentary mention, actors of the MTT have performed historical scenes written by Marianne Stangl and Manfred Grüssner in the Historische Führungen, guided tours organised by the town of Tirschenreuth with certified guides.[6] After a postponement caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the group returned in October 2023 with Lauf oder bleib, a collection of 25 short "miniature dramas" by authors including Thomas Bernhard, Fitzgerald Kusz, Karl Valentin and Dario Fo, directed by Winfried Steinl from Amberg.[7]
Since October 2021 the association has run theatre courses for children and young people aged ten to fourteen, led by the actress and director Doris Hofmann, and since January 2024 a second course for children aged nine to twelve. The youth group performed the project piece Welt der Gefühle in 2023 and Der Traumzauberbaum by Monika Ehrhardt-Lakomy and Reinhard Lakomy in the Kettelerhaus in 2024.[8]

The MTT combines director's theatre with experimental projects; its productions include classical drama, contemporary plays, music theatre and devised pieces.[3]
