History
From 1987 to 2008 a play was staged in Rennertshofen every year under the umbrella of the local Catholic workers' association. In winter 2008–09 some of the amateur actors met to discuss founding a theatre association of their own, and on 4 March 2009 they founded the Rennertshofener Theaterfreunde e. V., hoping to bring new momentum to the village theatre and attract new members.[1] Since then a play has been staged every November, together with a St Martin's play. A youth theatre has become established alongside the autumn play; at Christmas the children perform a play, and the association organises a St Nicholas visit. Every two years it takes part in the market festival and holds its own Theater-Hoagarten.[1] Other activities have included the filming of the short film Zauberer Schnitzel (2021) and its sequel (2022), an "entertainment cycle path" in 2021, and a three-day open-air music festival on the school sports ground in May 2022.[2][3] By the end of 2023 the association had 181 members.[1]
Repertoire
The autumn plays are Bavarian comedies. The youth theatre has staged plays such as Agent Alois by Christian Lex, a comedy set during the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich (2022), and a murder mystery dinner in 2022.[4][5]
