History
The theatre club was founded in 1947 by Anton Greiner, Anton Ziegler, Hubert Jung, Josef Falch, Josef Leibold, Georg Bronner, Adolf Bronner and Johann Wuggazer; according to the club, the name Theater- und Sportverein is probably unique in the district because the club's origin lies in theatre, with football, shooting, gymnastics and other sections added later. In its first years the group performed at Easter and Christmas; the clubhouse was built in 1955–56, and the open-air stage opened in 1957 with Kirsch und Kern.[1]
Under stage director Michael Joas, Swabian dialect theatre gained a special place from 1976. In 1981 the stage won first place among open-air stages in a dialect theatre competition of the Augsburger Allgemeine with Dös wär a Mo f'r di, and excerpts were broadcast on Bavarian television. The theatre hall extension and a new open-air stage were built in 1989–90, and a youth theatre group was founded in 1991.[1]
Repertoire
The section stages one open-air production most summers, mostly Swabian and Bavarian farces, and since the 1990s its youth and children's groups have performed fairy tales and children's plays in winter. Between 2012 and 2015 the open-air stage also hosted evenings of sketches.[1]
