The Thalia-Theater-Tann e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Tann in the district of Rottal-Inn, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded on 20 August 1999 after a successful production by the local Catholic rural youth group, and is named after Thalia, the Greek muse of comedy.[1]
History
About a year and a half before the association was founded, the Tann branch of the Katholische Landjugendbewegung (KLJB), led by Johannes Fenzl and Eva Stegmüller, wanted to stage an entertaining play with wit, pace and some ambition, and chose Der Mustergatte. Preparations were difficult – the venue changed during rehearsals, the set was not ready a week before the premiere and the play ran through completely for the first time at the dress rehearsal – but the audience reacted enthusiastically. From this success came the wish to devote themselves entirely to theatre, and on 20 August 1999 eleven founding members established the association.[1]
Repertoire
The group stages comedies, farces, crime plays and occasionally plays with a more serious background. Its productions have included Sein bester Freund, Keine Leiche ohne Lily, Immer wieder mittwochs, Auf und davon, Bunbury, Außer Kontrolle, Der keusche Lebemann, Durchreise and Pension Schöller.[1]
