Theatergruppe 1983 Westum e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Westum, a district of Sinzig in the district of Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. History
Amateur theatre in Westum predates the group: in the 1920s the local choral society performed in "Deckers Sälchen", after the Second World War the volunteer fire brigade staged dramas in the Saal Herges, and in the 1950s the village's bachelors' society was also active there. The present group was revived by Irmgard Kohzer and Monika Schneider, members of the village's women's carnival society. Rehearsals for its first play, Die Ersatzbraut, began on 1 June 1983, and the comedy was performed in the Saal Herges on 1 April 1984.[2]
Hans-Hubert Decker chaired the association in the early 2000s; Monika Schneider was chair from 2012, and in 2019 she and Irmgard Kohzer also directed the productions. All five performances of Baby wider Willen in 2012 were sold out.
