The Theatergruppe Hofkirchen e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Unterhofkirchen, a village in the municipality of Taufkirchen (Vils) in the district of Erding, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Formed by former members of the local Catholic rural youth group, it has staged a full-length Bavarian play every year since 1990, towards the end of Lent, in the hall of the Bürgerhaus Alte Schule.[1][2]
History
The group grew out of former members of the KLJB (Katholische Landjugendbewegung) in Hofkirchen and has performed a full-length play every year since 1990. Since 2010 its children's and youth group, led by Rosmarie Weber, has staged Christmas plays during Advent. Performances paused while the old school was rebuilt as the Bürgerhaus Alte Schule; the new stage opened with the youth group's Christmas play Das Geschenk des Halef.[1][3]
Repertoire
The adult group performs Bavarian comedies and farces, among them several by Ralph Wallner (Gspenstermacher, Malefiz Donnerblitz) and Peter Landstorfer.[3] In June 2022 it staged Manfred Mayer's comedy So a Wunder as an open-air production, and in March 2024 Heidi Faltlhauser's Moorleichenpoker.[4][5] In 2026 its youth group presented an interactive crime dinner, Wer hat den Hausmeister vergiftet?.[2]
The association also organises cabaret and music events on its stage in the Bürgerhaus.[2]
