History

The ensemble's roots go back to 1957, when a theatre leisure group was founded within Siemens AG. Since 2009 this group has cooperated with the Theatergruppe Süd-München to form the Theater-Ensemble tgsm; a new team is put together for each production.[1] The ensemble has also played improvisational theatre for more than 15 years, and during the cultural lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 it began performing live "Zoom theatre" via video conference.[2]

Repertoire

Productions include Jean-Paul Sartre's adaptation of Euripides' Die Troerinnen, performed in 2019 and 2020 at several Munich venues; Wolfgang Hildesheimer's grotesque Pastorale (2022); two one-act comedies by Anton Chekhov, Der Bär and Der Heiratsantrag (2024); Tödliches Glas Rotwein (2025); and, for 2027, a stage version of Die 39 Stufen. Children's productions include Der Räuber Hotzenplotz, Dornröschen and König Drosselbart.[1][3][4][5]

Organisation

Together with the Theatergruppe Siemens München e. V., the Theatergruppe Süd-München forms the Theater-Ensemble tgsm, with separate boards for each association.[2]
