Theatergruppe Taubenbach is an amateur theatre group in Taubenbach, a village in the municipality of Reut, district of Rottal-Inn, Lower Bavaria, Germany.[1] Founded in 1947 and re-established several times, it stages one comedy each spring.[2][3]
History
Theatre has a long tradition in Taubenbach, although no written records of its beginnings survive; the oldest evidence the group found is a photograph from around 1935. Immediately after the Second World War, plays with religious content were performed in the parish hall, which was demolished in the 1950s. In 1947 the agricultural journalist Erich Geiersberger founded the Theatergruppe Taubenbach, which gave the first performances of his plays Heimkehr, Der Lippenstift and s'Windfandl. Performances stopped in 1953 and the group broke up.[2]
In 1961 the local veterans' association (Veteranen-Verein) resumed staging plays with old and new players. At that time the group was the only stage in the surrounding area and toured to Buch, Eggstetten, Erlbach, Endlkirchen, Gumpersdorf, Julbach, Mauerberg, Simbach, Tüßling, Tann, Walburgskirchen and Zimmern; the play Gefangen in maurischer Wüste was performed 14 times. Performances stopped again in 1966. In 1969 Franz Pfaffeneder revived the group as an independent club, which he led until 1975. Under his successor Franz Maier (1975–2010) the group joined the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V.[2]
Repertoire
Since 2013 the group has staged one comedy every spring, with six performances in 2019.[2][3]
