'''G.T.E.V. "Edelweiß" Bad Kohlgrub e. V.''' (''Gebirgs-Trachten-Erhaltungs-Verein'') is a traditional costume association in the spa town of [[wikipedia:Bad Kohlgrub|Bad Kohlgrub]] in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Upper Bavaria, Germany, whose ''Bauerntheater'' (rural theatre) stages comedies and farces in the Kursaal during the summer season. The association was founded in 1908.<ref name="home" />

== History ==
On Epiphany (6 January) 1908, 31 young men met to found the association, naming it ''Gebirgs-Trachten-Erhaltungs-Verein Edelweiß Bad Kohlgrub''; its first chairman was the farmer's son Michael Degele. The association was among the founders of the regional Gauverband II based in [[wikipedia:Murnau am Staffelsee|Murnau]] and later took a leading part in founding the Oberländer Trachtenvereinigung. Theatre had already been played successfully before the First World War; in 1928 it received a new impetus when an open-air stage was built in the Waldschlucht, where folk plays were performed. The association celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1983 and its 110th in 2018, the latter together with a meeting of historic costumes of Old Bavaria.<ref name="chronik" />

According to the association's chronicle, four theatre groups perform 35 to 40 shows a year, both cheerful and serious plays.<ref name="chronik" /> A regional tourism card describes about 40 amateur actors who rehearse several comedies and farces each year and perform them on different dates between May and October.<ref name="koenigscard" /> The 2026 season comprised ''Witwenalarm'' by Walter G. Pfaus, directed by Martina Schlagenhaufer, and ''Haushalt für alle!'' by Beate Irmisch, directed by Theresia Kouba, played on ten evenings from 27 May to 14 October.<ref name="theater" /><ref name="witwen" /><ref name="haushalt" />
