The Theater in der Frauentorstraße e. V. (TiF) is an amateur theatre association in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. Its history goes back to 1885, and since 1960 it has played in the hall of the Kolpinghaus in the Frauentorstraße, after which it is named. It stages one production a year, mostly comedies and modern plays.

History
The association was founded in 1885 as the Dramatisches Monatskränzchen. It was renamed Unterhaltungsverein Einigkeit in 1887 and Theaterverein Einigkeit e. V. in 1925; after an orchestra section was added in 1932 it became the Theater- und Orchesterverein Einigkeit. In 1946, as the Volksspielgruppe Augsburg, it was the first theatre group to be licensed again after the war by the US cultural department. In 1957 the Volksspielgruppe Augsburg-Pfersee gave up to six productions per season in the Weißenburger Hof; in 1960 the Volksspiele Augsburg moved into the hall of the Kolpinghaus, and in 1973 the Amateurtheater Volksspiele Augsburg e. V. was entered in the register of associations. The present name dates from the 1990s.

After the death of its long-time director in 1977, the group changed its programme: because Augsburg already had many dialect theatres, it turned to more demanding boulevard comedies. A production of Peter Pan in 1995 involved 17 children, and in 2001 the group gave the first performance in Swabian of Fitzgerald Kusz's Dr letschte Wille. The group celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2010 with a festive premiere. In 2018 it moved temporarily to the Haus Augustinus near St. Georg while the Kolpinghaus was being rebuilt. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic it did not perform in 2020 and 2021. It celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2025.

Repertoire
Up to the 1970s the group also played Bavarian dialect pieces such as Ludwig Thoma's Moral and Die Lokalbahn; since then it has concentrated on comedies and modern plays from the international repertoire, including occasional children's productions such as Momo and Pippi Langstrumpf (2005). According to its chronicle the 2017 production of Boeing-Boeing revived a play it had first staged 39 years earlier. The following list combines the group's former production gallery, its current production pages and its chronicle; no productions are listed for most years before 1973 and for 1974–1976, 1979, 1981–1982, 1987, 1992 and 1997.

Venue
The group performs in the hall of the Kolpinghaus, Frauentorstraße 29, in the centre of Augsburg, where it has been based since 1960.

Organisation
According to its website, more than 60 people of all ages take part on, under and behind the stage; all sets, costumes, make-up and lighting are made by the members.

Since 1972 it has had a partnership with the Stadttheater Kufstein (until 2008 Tiroler Volkstheater) in Kufstein, Austria; the two groups visit each other with guest performances, for example Shirley Valentine by the Kufstein ensemble in Augsburg in 2017 and Der Tod und das Mädchen in 2023, and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the partnership in 2022.
