Theaterverein Apfeldorf e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Apfeldorf, district of Landsberg am Lech, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1994 to continue a village theatre tradition going back to the early 20th century, it stages one play each autumn in the Apfeldorf multi-purpose hall.

History
Performances were given in Apfeldorf from the early 20th century, mostly at the former Gasthaus Schwaller, but not regularly and without surviving records. After the Second World War the Trachtenverein (traditional costume club) staged four plays there between 1949 and 1956, among them Die drei Eisbären by Maximilian Vitus, after which theatre lapsed again. From 1977 the rural youth (Landjugend) and the Trachtenverein took turns in staging plays in the hall of the Gasthaus Rose. Some of the players formed the semi-professional group Bühnenstich, which toured German-speaking stages for almost 15 years.

After Der G'wissenswurm in 1991 the players had no suitable venue. To keep theatre alive in the village, 18 members founded the Theaterverein Apfeldorf e. V. on 25 April 1994 under its first chairman Delfo Viviani; its first production, Die hölzerne Jungfrau, followed in 1995 at the Gasthaus Rose under director Paul Doetsch-Perras. Since 2000 the group has played in the newly extended multi-purpose hall, and it moved its performances to the autumn to avoid clashing with neighbouring villages. Its 2004 production of Der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig' Leben drew almost 2,000 spectators in nine performances, with more than 70 people involved. A 2011 production of Ray Cooney's Außer Kontrolle, relocated by Doetsch-Perras to Upper Bavaria, was praised by the regional press.

Repertoire
The club alternates serious plays with "sophisticated" boulevard comedies, mostly by Bavarian authors and in dialect versions.
