Theaterverein Isen 1983 e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Isen, district of Erding, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1983, it stages comedies, Bavarian Volksstücke and musicals as well as a fairy-tale play for children every year in the Klement-Saal in Isen. In 2019 it received the cultural prize of the district of Erding.

History
Amateur theatre in Isen goes back to 1903, when a Theatergesellschaft was founded; it broke up after a few years. In 1920 a second group founded the Musik- und Theater-Verein Isen together with the local choral society, which was dissolved in 1928; afterwards plays were staged only occasionally by the gymnastics club and the choral society.

The present club held its founding meeting on 15 January 1983 in a side room of the Gasthaus Klement, and gave its first performance, the two one-act plays Die Brautschau and Rote Ruabn, on 5 November 1983. Its first Christmas fairy tale, Hänsel und Gretel, followed on 22 December 1984. In 1990 it took part with the children's play Kikerikiste in the second international Volkstheatertage in Rosenheim. A youth group, the Bühnenflöhe, was formed in 1991, and in 1992 the experimental group Wexelbad for modern plays. In 1995 members appeared in the ZDF production Der schönste Tag im Leben, partly filmed in the Klement-Saal. For the 1250th anniversary of Isen in 1997 the club took part in the Historisches Markttreiben. By its 20th anniversary in 2003 more than 26,000 spectators had seen 60 different productions. There were no performances in 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Repertoire
The club's main production alternates between comedies, boulevard plays and Bavarian Volksstücke, and since 1984 it has staged a fairy-tale play for children before Christmas; children's and youth groups have also put on their own productions. According to the regional press, its plays often take up social themes, such as the decline of village shops in Eine ganz heiße Nummer (2018) and dementia in Honig im Kopf (2019).
