== History ==
Theatre in Völkersen grew out of the local sports club, TSV "Eintracht" Völkersen, founded in 1909, which is said to have staged plays from that time on. Traditionally there was a single performance each year on Christmas Day. The tradition ended in 1965 after the death of a young cast member.<ref name="ueber" />

At the village harvest festival of 1977 former players and the inn "Zur Post" agreed to revive the theatre, as most of the inn's hall stage still existed. A first performance took place in 1977, still organised by the TSV, and in 1978 fourteen villagers founded the Theaterverein Völk'ser Platt, with Reinhard Körte as its first chairman.<ref name="ueber" /> Körte led the association again from 2008 and was re-elected in 2016.<ref name="wk2016">[https://www.weser-kurier.de/kultur/theaterverein-voelkser-platt-wahrt-die-tradition-doc7e3pwa54b7512h67xm40 Theaterverein „Völk'ser Platt" wahrt die Tradition], Weser-Kurier, 24 April 2016, retrieved 14 October 2026. For decades the group performed in the hall of the Gasthaus "Zur Post", until the inn closed in 2014.<ref name="ueber" /> Through the local mayor, the group arranged with the Heimatverein of neighbouring Walle to perform in the Waller Dörpshus in [[wikipedia:Verden, Aller|Verden]]-Walle, where it gave eleven performances in January and February 2015 and continued to play in the following years.<ref name="walle">[https://www.waller-heimatverein.de/veranstaltungsrueckblicke/v%C3%B6lk-ser-platt/ Völk´ser Platt], Heimatverein Walle, retrieved 14 October 2026. No production took place in the 2021/22 season.<ref name="site">[https://theaterverein.voelkersen.de/ Theaterverein Völk'ser Platt], official website, retrieved 14 October 2026. In November 2025, while the stage was being built, around 20 players, many of them new members, presented ten sketches to about 100 spectators. The first production on the new stage, the comedy ''De ledige Bouplatz'' by Regina Rösch, is scheduled to open on 29 January 2027.<ref name="site" />

== Repertoire ==
The group performs comedies in Low German. In its later years it has increasingly staged boulevard comedies of French and English origin, which were first written in Standard German and then adapted into Low German.<ref name="ueber" /> Its published list of productions runs from 1977 to the present, usually with one play per season; some titles, such as ''De Kriegskamerad'', ''Hier sünd se richtig'', ''Keen Thema'' and ''Een kommodigen Avend'', have been staged more than once. A Low German theatre group for primary-school children has also been set up in the village's Kinderarche.<ref name="site" />
