The Volksbühne Rosenheim St. Nikolaus e. V., also known as the Nikolaus-Bühne, is an amateur theatre group in Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It grew out of the parish of St. Nikolaus in 1972–73, was registered as an association in 1976 and stages Bavarian folk plays and farces, currently at the Rosenheim Künstlerhof.

History
In 1972 former altar servers and amateur actors performed Der Pfarrergockel, a scene from Georg Lohmeier's Königlich Bayerisches Amtsgericht, at a parish evening of St. Nikolaus under the curate Alois Holzner. In 1973, under his direction, the group staged its first full-length play, Max Neal's Das sündige Dorf, which it regards as its founding. It performed at first as the Junge Laienspielgruppe Rosenheim St. Nikolaus in the Kolpinghaus and was registered as the Volksbühne Rosenheim St. Nikolaus e. V. in 1976. After Holzner moved away, Peter Hartmann directed most productions for many years.

Apart from 1980, the group has staged one or more productions every year. It gave the first stage performances of two court episodes from Lohmeier's Königlich Bayerisches Amtsgericht, and with Der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig Leben (Kurt Wilhelm after Franz von Kobell) it made its first guest appearance abroad, in Oberrasen in South Tyrol, and its first appearance in the Rosenheim Stadthalle. The Brandner Kaspar became its most-watched production: at the Bavarian state garden show in Rosenheim in 2010 more than 1,200 spectators saw it on the open-air stage over three evenings, and it was then also performed at the Künstlerhof.

In May 2013 the group celebrated its 40th anniversary together with the Inntaler Bauernbühne Rosenheim with about 200 guests at the Künstlerhof, where long-standing members received honours from the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. It celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.

Repertoire
The group's repertoire consists mainly of Bavarian folk plays and farces, among them Ludwig Anzengruber's Der ledige Hof, Ludwig Thoma's Der Schusternazi, Die drei Dorfheiligen by Max Neal and Max Ferner, Thomas auf der Himmelsleiter and Alles beim Teufel by Maximilian Vitus, Der Geisterbräu by Josef Maria Lutz and Graf Schorschi. It has also performed open-air on the Doagl-Alm on the Samerberg and at the Ampfing summer evenings. In 2026 it staged Schmugglerbazi in spring and, in autumn, a new production of Ralph Wallner's farce Gspenstermacher, one of its most successful plays, first performed by the group more than ten years earlier.
