Gebirgstrachten-Erhaltungsverein Hochries-Samerberg Grainbach e. V. (GTEV Hochries-Samerberg) is a traditional costume association in Grainbach, part of the municipality of Samerberg at the foot of the Hochries in the district of Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1896, it has a theatre group that performs a rural comedy (Bauerntheater) at the Gasthof Maurer around Christmas each year.

History
The association has belonged to the regional Gauverband I since its founding year 1896. It celebrated its 130th anniversary with a five-day festival week in August 2026, at which about 2,000 members of costume associations took part in the festive Sunday.

The association's chronicle first mentions theatre in 1909. One-act plays were performed at Christmas or at Christmas-tree auctions, and before the Second World War many three-act plays were also staged. Theatre revived after the war: Der Gankerl von Berchtesgaden in 1948 drew about 500 spectators, and Jennerweins Ende in the following year was also performed in Frasdorf, Aschau and Munich. The group's stage was in the Gasthaus Wörndl until 1952, when it moved to the Gasthof Maurer. Activity declined in the mid-1950s, recovered from the early 1960s until 1979, and after several setbacks no three-act plays were staged until 1982. A new stage was built in 1986.

From 1992 Peter Wiesholzer led the theatre group for about 25 years; he wrote five of its plays himself, among them Der Aufschwung, Meereskrise and Die Energieblende. He was followed by Georg Brandmaier and, from 2020, Robert Dörper. During the COVID-19 pandemic the group could not perform. According to the association's chairman at the time, about 20 people work on, behind and in front of the stage for a standard production, and up to 40 for larger ones.

Repertoire
The group plays three-act comedies in Bavarian dialect. Its 2024/25 production was Der Sauna-Gigolo, a comedy by Andreas Wening in a Bavarian version by Barbara Heynen, performed on six evenings between 26 December 2024 and 5 January 2025 at the Gasthof Maurer.

Organisation
The association has about 300 members. Besides the theatre group, its activities include Goaßlschnalzer (whip-crackers), the historic Samer (packhorse drivers), Schuhplattler and costume dancing, an alpine singing event at the Moserboden in August and a mountain mass on the Hochries in September.
