The Heimatbühne Seeon e. V. is an amateur theatre association in Seeon, part of the municipality of Seeon-Seebruck in the district of Traunstein, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Refounded in 1949 in a local theatre tradition dating back to 1914, it stages comedies and folk plays each autumn in the hall of the inn "Alter Wirt" in Seeon. In 2025 it received third place in the Bavarian amateur theatre prize.

History
According to its chronicle, the Heimatbühne Seeon traces its origins to 1914, when the Seeoner Theatergesellschaft performed in the hall of the former monastery (Seeon Abbey), with support from the ducal family of Leuchtenberg after the First World War. The company dissolved in the late 1920s; the Catholic young men's movement then staged occasional plays at the "Alter Wirt" until it was banned under National Socialism, and from 1937 a group from the volunteer fire brigade played folk plays until its members were called up for war service. In autumn 1949 twelve people met at the Altwirt and founded a new group, again attached to the fire brigade; its first premiere, Der Kreuzhofbauer, took place in the monastery hall in spring 1950. Since then the group has staged one or two productions a year.

Otto Gerl directed the group for 31 years until 1988; he was followed by Franzl Berger and in 1997 by Josef Mair, and later also by Christa Stifter (from 2006) and Regina Weistenfeld (from 2017). Besides comedies, the group has performed open-air plays such as the historical play Der Mönch von Seeon for the 1000th anniversary of Seeon in 1994 and Molière's Der alte Geizkragen in the monastery courtyard, and classics such as Anzengruber's Der Sternsteinhof and Ludwig Thoma's Magdalena. In 2026 the association's website spoke of 75 years of theatre.
