Theater Nikola Landshut is an amateur theatre group based in Landshut, Lower Bavaria, Germany, attached to the Catholic parish of St. Nikola. Founded in 1975, it usually stages a spring and an autumn production in the parish hall of St. Nikola, ranging from classical drama to comedies, crime plays and Bavarian dialect pieces, and takes part in the Landshut Wedding festival.

History
The group was founded in 1975 by a parishioner of St. Nikola together with seven young people; its first public appearances were a self-written sketch in July 1975 and scenes by Karl Valentin in September of that year. The first premiere, Ludwig Thoma's comedy Die kleinen Verwandten, was given in October 1975 at a district meeting of the Kolping families in Pfeffenhausen, and in December 1975 the group played Thoma's Waldfrieden at the opening of the hall in the new St. Nikola parish centre. The parish centre was built in 1975 and has served as the group's playing space since. In 1976 the group won first prize at a theatre competition of the Kolping families of the Isargau district with Thoma's Gelähmte Schwingen.

From 1978 the group took part in the Landshut Wedding, first with street theatre and later as travelling comedians with plays by Hans Sachs and with players in the festival play. In April 1981 it joined the Volksspielkunst-Verband Bayern and the Bund Deutscher Amateurtheater. The founder handed over the leadership in 2005, the group's 30th anniversary year, when a registered association was formed. In 2013 the autumn production had to be cancelled after flood damage.

The group marked its 40th anniversary in October 2015 with a ceremony in the Prunksaal of Landshut town hall and a photo exhibition. According to the association's chairman, it had by then staged about 75 productions with some 800 performances for about 90,000 spectators. In 2017 it was one of the founding members of the Bühne Landshut, an interest group of Landshut amateur theatres formed with Theater Hofberg, Theater Konrad and the youth music theatre association MuT to look jointly for rehearsal, storage and performance space. After the spring production of 2020 was cancelled because of the COVID-19 lockdown, the group performed short pieces in 2020 and 2021. It celebrated its 50th anniversary in autumn 2025.

Repertoire
The repertoire covers classical drama (Shakespeare, Sophocles, Kleist, Goethe), 20th-century plays by authors such as Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Ödön von Horváth and Jean Anouilh, comedies, thrillers and crime plays, Bavarian dialect pieces by Ludwig Thoma and others, and religious and Christmas plays. In addition the group regularly appears at the Landshut Wedding, the Landshut Altstadtfest and the Nikola-Dult, and has given benefit evenings for the restoration of the old church of St. Nikola. Since the 2000s it has normally staged one spring and one autumn production a year.
