The Engertshamer Heimatbühne e. V. is an amateur theatre group in Engertsham, a village in the market municipality of Fürstenzell, Passau district, Lower Bavaria, Germany.[1][2] It grew out of the village's rural youth group, which first staged a play in 1974, and has presented a new play every year since.[1]

History

In 1974, at a time when Engertsham still held eleven carnival events in one season, the amateur actors of the local Landjugend (rural youth association) staged a play for the first time: Der Gusseiserne, performed three times. Since then not a year has passed without a new production. In 2015 three founding members were still taking part.[1] The group celebrated its 50th stage anniversary in 2024.[3]

Repertoire

The repertoire ranges from classics and peasant farces to modern material, played in front of sets designed and built by the group itself.[1] In recent years the group has played its annual comedy around the turn of the year, starting after Christmas.[4][2]
