The Heimatbühne Tutzing e. V. is an amateur folk theatre association in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg, in the district of Starnberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded on 16 February 1977, it staged Bavarian comedies and farces almost every year until 2018; in 2024 its chairman warned that the association might have to be dissolved for lack of active members.[1][2]

History

Several theatre groups had existed in Tutzing before, but none lasted long. After many years without folk theatre, a group of theatre enthusiasts, some of whom had acted in earlier productions, founded the Heimatbühne Tutzing e. V. on 16 February 1977 with twelve founding members.[1] Since its founding the association has had only two chairmen, Hubert Hupfauf and, from 1993, Hubert Heirler. For a long time it performed a play almost every year. After the old TSV hall was demolished in 2011, the group had difficulties finding space for rehearsals, performances and its stock of sets and props; the COVID-19 pandemic added to the problems.[2][1] The last full productions were Im Pfarrhaus is der Deifi los (2017) and Gspenstermacher (2018); since then the group has organised variety evenings and sketches. In January 2024 the association still had more than 90 members but fewer than 20 active players and helpers; Heirler hoped to stage Die Erbschleicherin, a Bavarian version of Molière's The Imaginary Invalid, but could not find enough actors.[2]
