History
The association was founded at the beginning of 2023 on the initiative of Melanie Bier, who had acted for many years before setting up her own group. In May 2023 it had ten members, most of them with little or no stage experience, and had just been recognised as a non-profit organisation. Its name refers to the Golden Hat of Schifferstadt, a Bronze Age gold-sheet hat found near the town in 1835 and now in the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer, and to the gesture of raising one's hat to the audience. The group saw itself as a complement to the Kolpingtheater, which was already established in Schifferstadt.[1]
Before its first full production, the group performed the mime piece Pantomime im Park for residents of a Schifferstadt senior citizens' home in April 2023 and appeared with short mime scenes at the town's fruit and vegetable day in September 2023.[2] Its first comedy, Künstlerpech by Jürgen Baumgarten, premiered on 9 March 2024.
