History
Kienberg had an earlier village theatre group: a photograph dated 1920 shows a nativity play, and photographs in the archive of the local museum show a Kienberg production of Jedermann.[1]

Work on the scenery began in June 1986, and on 25 October 1986 the group gave its first performance in the multi-purpose hall with three one-act plays, Die Preiskuah, Die dappige Verwandtschaft and Bauer sucht Bäuerin. In 1990 it joined the Volksspielkunstverband Bayern, and in 1994 a formal non-profit association was founded. The group celebrated its tenth anniversary on 17 April 1996, when it received an association flag as a gift. After a change to its statutes, the board decided in March 2003 to register the association; the entry was confirmed in November 2003, and since then the association has been called Kienberger Dorftheater e. V.[1]
Repertoire
The group's productions include comedies in Bavarian dialect.
