Theatergruppe Burgenzauber is an amateur theatre group based in Schönecken in the Eifel, Bitburg-Prüm district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Since 1993 it has staged a play every two years as a rule, since 2014 in the community centre Forum im Flecken.[2][3]
History
The group's first production, Blaues Blut und Erbsensuppe, is dated 1993 on its website; earlier versions of the site dated it 1992.[2][4] Its first four productions were performed in the gymnasium of the Grund- und Hauptschule Schönecken. Wanting to perform outside the school holidays as well, the group decided in 1998 to move to the hall of the Café Gitzen in Schönecken, where it staged seven productions over the following years.[2] Der kerngesunde Kranke was performed there in January 2004.[5]
Alongside its regular productions the group gave guest performances in Balesfeld and Burbach and played in the open air at Schönecken Castle and in a marquee.[2] In June 2001 it performed Geisterstund' auf Bellacosta as an open-air production at the castle, and in September and October 2002 the one-act comedy Spanien olé in a marquee in the Hühnerbach.[5] In 2014 the group appeared for the first time on the stage of the new community centre, Forum im Flecken.[2]
Repertoire
The group performs comedies and farces, usually with several performances in autumn.[6][7] Die fromme Helene (1998), a comedy by Winfried Wagner, was performed with dialogue seasoned with Eifel dialect.[8] For November 2026 the group has scheduled Burg Hotel zum feinen Gaumen, a three-act comedy by Heinz Köhler.[7]
