Work with People – Theater e. V. (WwP-Theater) is an amateur theatre association based in Haßloch in the Palatinate, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Growing out of a theatre-education initiative started in 2009, it runs a children's and youth theatre academy and stages productions with an adult ensemble and a family theatre line, the Funkelfabrik.[2][3]
History
The idea for an educational theatre in Haßloch arose in June 2009 among a group of theatre pedagogues, in cooperation with the municipality and its youth and culture centre Blaubär. In January 2010 the children's group Klecks (from age six) was formed, and in the same year the youth group Stilecht and the adult comedy group L'Adulte followed. Besides its own productions, the group ran projects with schools in its first years, among them a week-long project with 60 children and young people at the Gottlieb-Wenz-Schule, a school for pupils with learning difficulties.[2][4]
After the idea of a non-profit association had taken shape in 2012, the association was founded at a meeting of 13 founding members on 29 May 2013.[2][5] In 2015 it worked with the Theaterverein Haßloch 1926 e. V. for the first time on a joint open-air production of Dracula at the Freilichtbühne am Eichelgarten.[6] The children's and youth groups were reorganised as the Kinder- und Jugendtheaterakademie (KiJuThea), which started in September 2016 with 16 new children and young people.[7]
In February 2019 the association's newly founded improvisational theatre group Gromala gave its first show in the Kulturviereck.[8] The same year it played for the first time on the open-air grounds of the Haßloch racecourse.[9] In 2023 it marked its tenth anniversary with Sergej Gößner's comedy Brigitte Bordeaux.[10] Also in 2023 it launched the Funkelfabrik, a line of family productions with mixed casts of experienced players, newcomers and members of the youth academy.[11] A production of Die Schatzinsel after Robert Louis Stevenson, to be staged at the racecourse, is in preparation for 2027.[12][13]
Repertoire
The repertoire ranges from devised pieces by the children's and youth groups to comedies, crime plays, fairy-tale adaptations for families and issue-based theatre. Since 2023 the Funkelfabrik has staged one or two family productions a year.[11] The association also lets members gain experience as directors and co-directors of its productions.[13]

Venue
The association has no permanent theatre of its own. Its children's and youth groups rehearse in the youth and culture centre Blaubär in Haßloch.[33] Between 2015 and 2019 several productions were staged in the Kulturviereck in Haßloch;[17][16] in 2019 it used the open-air grounds of the Haßloch racecourse, with the audience in front of the grandstand.[34] Since 2024 its productions have been staged in the Saal Löwer (Alte Brauerei) in Haßloch's Langgasse.[35][11]
Organisation
Besides the stage productions, the association offers theatre training for children, young people and adults. The Kinder- und Jugendtheaterakademie teaches groups by age on Saturdays.[33] In 2020 it added a musical academy, Broadway, for 13- to 17-year-olds and a theatre group for people over 60.[3] Since January 2025 it has also run a youth theatre course in Dörrenbach in the Southern Palatinate.[36] In 2026 it held Bühne für Alle, an inclusive theatre project for people with and without disabilities.[37]
From 2013 the association organised the KULTURFIZ, a benefit evening in the Kulturviereck at which artists from the region performed without fee; the proceeds went to local social causes, among them a counselling service for single mothers (2013), a planned theatre project for children and young people from poor families (2015) and the volunteers of an outpatient hospice in Neustadt an der Weinstraße (2016).[38][39][40] The event was also held in 2014 and 2018.[41][18] Fait gaffe #youtoo was developed in cooperation with the municipality's equal opportunities office and premiered on the One Billion Rising day of action.[28]
