History
The association was founded in 2011. Its active members form the ensemble, while passive members support it with ideas and money; it is financed by membership fees, donations and partners. In 2012 it received the Hermann-Hölter-Preis and the Vestischer Kulturpreis, and it is recognised as a provider of independent youth welfare services (Träger der freien Jugendhilfe).[1] For its 15th anniversary, marked by 15 productions, it announced an anniversary gala.[3]
Productions
The association's debut was the musical Das Tagebuch des Bobby Griffith, about a young gay man facing intolerance in rural America (based on the story of Bobby Griffith). Its first musical gala, Circus Entertain, turned the stage into a circus ring; a later gala celebrated the club's fifth anniversary and was dedicated to a deceased member. Other productions include the family musicals Blue – Das magische Ei and Ferdy Förder, Der kleine Vampir (based on the Little Vampire books), Tom Sawyer, the St. Pauli musical Heiße Ecke, a Tabaluga musical, Peter Pan – Fliege deinen Traum, Wat mein Herz mir sacht, a musical tribute to Bottrop written with the local musician Markus Stein, and Scrooge – Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte (2023).[4] In 2026 the association staged Shrek – Das Musical.[3]
Besides its shows, the ensemble regularly performs at the Bottrop town festival, the Bottroper Weihnachtszauber Christmas market and other local events, and organises workshops for its members.[1]
