History
Schleichwege was founded in spring 2023 as a combined figure theatre and fairy-tale storytelling project of a Munich storyteller and puppeteer.[2] In its first year it appeared at the Flower Power Festival 2023 in Munich, among other venues with Babette und der verflixte Knoten in the palm house of the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg, and in May 2023 at the third figure theatre festival of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. in Nuremberg.[4][5][6] In 2025 it took part in the fourth VBAT figure theatre festival in Kaufbeuren with Babette und der verflixte Knoten and Die Skelettfrau.[2]
Repertoire
The figures are mostly designed and built by the performer, who plays in an open style, visible to the audience; longer storytelling programmes for adults are accompanied by musicians.[3] Its figure theatre pieces include Babette und der verflixte Knoten, a short play for children from five years about a forgetful jungle snake, performed with mouth puppets and table-top figures, and Die Skelettfrau for adults; Toro und Antonio and Das Herz im Geigenkasten were in production as of 2026.[3][5] Storytelling programmes include fairy tales about trees, flowers and nature, Chinese fairy tales and the regular children's series Märchen in der Jurte at the Alte Utting in Munich.[3][7]
Organisation
Its programmes can be booked for private celebrations, company events, kindergartens and schools.[3] Recurring venues have included the Alte Utting, the Bahnwärter Thiel and the MOC Winterworld in Munich.[2][7]
