The HUKL-Bühne Vöhrum e.V. is an amateur theatre group in Vöhrum, a district of Peine, Lower Saxony, Germany.[1] Founded in 1970 and named after its long-time stage director Hubert Klinke, it has staged a three-act comedy every year since 1979 in the Vöhrum village community hall.[2]
History
In 1970 Christa Andrioff, head of the local kindergarten, formed a theatre group of kindergarten children and three adults, among them Hubert Klinke; rehearsals began on 1 October 1970, and the fairy tale Schneewittchen und die sieben Zwerge was performed twice before Christmas. After Andrioff moved away, Klinke continued alone with the one-act play Das Kälberbrüten. At a performance for senior citizens, the chairman of the local AWO branch named the group "HUKL-Bühne Vöhrum" after the initials of Hubert Klinke. The children's Junior-HUKL-Bühne gave 135 Christmas performances for 19,100 spectators between 1970 and 1982, while the adult group expanded its membership and programme. On 7 March 1981 members presented an hour of the music programme Plattenkiste on NDR 2 in Hamburg.[2]
Since 1979 the group has performed a three-act play each year; in May 2004 demand exceeded the available tickets for the first time. Membership had grown to 32.[2] No productions are listed for 2020 and 2021.[3]
Repertoire
Besides the annual comedy, the group presents a sketch programme every two years in late autumn at the Peiner Forum and other small venues, and has staged evenings devoted to Loriot in Peine (2006, 2010) and the play Die Eule zu Peine (reviewed in January 2013).[2][4]
