History
Uchenhofen had a theatre tradition before the current group: plays were staged in the inn "Braunes Ross" until 1969, when the activity stopped.[2] The theatre was revived in 1993/94, when members of the TSV Uchenhofen's carnival sessions were recruited for a first play, Bäckermeister Striezl; the club's chronicle counts 1994 as the founding year of the Junghöfer Dorfbühne.[3] With a borrowed stage, the three planned performances were raised to four and sold out quickly.[2]
As the ensemble grew, the number of performances per season rose from four to seven and then to twelve. The tenth-anniversary production, Der verkaufte Großvater (2003), set a new attendance record, according to the local press, and in 2013 the group celebrated its 20th anniversary.[2] The group was entered in the register of associations in December 2013.[4] Press reports up to 2018 still describe it as the Junghöfer Dorfbühne "of the TSV Uchenhofen".[5]
Repertoire
The group plays comedies, farces and rural comedies (Lustspiele and Schwänke), one production per season, usually with premieres in late winter and performances on several weekends into March.[6][7][5]
