History
The association traces its origins to 2010, when the then head of Unterföhring's cultural office staged scenes by Karl Valentin to open the new Bürgerhaus. Professional actors and performers from local groups, among them the local amateur theatre group, the costume club, the music school and the brass band, took part in this promenade production, the "Valentinaden". Four of the later founding members were involved, and with the Kulturbixn they wanted to continue the collaboration of professional artists and amateurs. The name alludes to the shape of the Bürgerhaus, which resembles a tin (Bavarian Bixn, "Büchse").[3]
The association was founded in July 2015.[2] Its first production, the pub crime play Lallinger ermittelt, was performed at the Bürgerhaus in spring 2016.[4] In 2025 the Kulturbixn celebrated their tenth anniversary with the crime comedy Halbpension mit Leiche and a festive evening at the Bürgerhaus.[5][4]

Venue
The group performs at the Bürgerhaus Unterföhring, Münchner Straße 65.[5] According to its own description it also plays in the town hall, the school hall, cafés, restaurants and outdoors.[9]
Organisation
Besides theatre, the Kulturbixn offer literature events, cabaret and small-scale performances, courses and workshops, as well as guest performances and theatre trips.[1] The association has also appeared at the Unterföhring Christmas market and a local citizens' culture festival in 2015.[10]
