History

The ensemble first performed on 13 March 2005 as part of Forchheim's 1200th anniversary celebrations; until 2008 it played under the name Camouflage – Ensemble des Jungen Theater Forchheim. Since 2010 it has continued the series as an independent group under the name StaTTTheater Forchheim. It has performed the scenic city tour about 150 times, making it, according to the group, the most frequently performed play in Forchheim.[1] From August 2020 to autumn 2022 a small group developed the stage play Tod im Kellerwald, based on the diary of a Jewish woman from Forchheim recording a fatal incident in 1844; it was performed six times in June 2023 in the Kellerwald with an ensemble of 20, in cooperation with the town of Forchheim.[1][3] In 2024 the group received the Kulturpreis of the district of Forchheim.[1]

Repertoire

The Forchheimer Zeitsprung is a scenic walking tour with scenes at stations in the old town – among them the coinage of Charlemagne in 794, a market scene of 805, the donation of 1007 and the road to Canossa of 1077 in the courtyard of the Kaiserpfalz. It is also offered as an evening and night tour.[2] Tod im Kellerwald (2023) tells the true story of a Jewish family in Forchheim: on 21 July 1844 the annual Annafest shooting competition of the town's rifle society was shaken by a death in the Kellerwald.[3]

Organisation

The volunteer cast of the StaTTTheater Forchheim currently numbers 20 players, working with double casting; the city tour is performed eleven times a year plus special tours.[4]

Awards

In 2024 the StaTTTheater Forchheim received the Kulturpreis des Landkreises Forchheim for its work.[1]
