History
Plays were performed in Geltendorf as early as the 1920s, at first mostly serious pieces. The association itself was founded on 16 January 1973 at the Gasthof „Alter Wirt“ as the Volkstümliche Sing- und Spielgruppe Geltendorf e. V.; its first performance followed in December 1977.[2] The chronicle records a change of name in 2018 and the association's 50th anniversary in 2023.[4]
Repertoire
The Herbsttheater presents well-known comedies (Lustspiele), traditional Bauerntheater and modern plays.[5] The Junge Bühne, which has existed for more than three decades and is open to members from the age of ten, rehearses and stages at least one production a year; besides acting, its members also work on stage technology, make-up, film and directing.[6] Besides plays, the chronicle lists three open-air theatre days (Freilicht-Theatertag, 2000, 2003 and 2006), carnival parades (2007, 2017), an open day (2010) and a Freaky Friday Fright Show (2015, 2016).[4]
For autumn 2026 the association announced a new Herbsttheater production with nine performances from 23 October to 8 November.[3]
