History

Theatre has a long tradition in Fischen; the association was founded in 1976 to give it a legal and organisational basis. In 2019 it had more than 40 members, all of whom were or had been active in the club.[1]

Repertoire

Every year since its foundation the group has rehearsed a new play in dialect – comedies and farces as well as more demanding folk plays. The new production premieres in January in the Allgäu dialect; the players then relearn it in a "moderate dialect" for the many holiday guests in the resort.[1] Around 2019 the programme included the plays Der ewige Spitzbue, Oh heiliger St. Benedict, Wenn Opa über die Stränge schlägt and Der alte Draufgänger, with local folk music between the acts.[3]

Organisation

Advance ticket sales for the performances were handled by the tourist information office of Fischen.[2]
