Theater Bühnen-Reif (Theaterverein Bühnen-Reif e.V.) is an amateur theatre group based in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, Germany.[1] Founded in 1991, it stages one comedy each season, which premieres in Salzgitter-Thiede and then tours to other venues in the region.[2][3]
History
The association was founded in 1991 by Udo Hasler and six other theatre enthusiasts; its first production that year was Der Raub der Sabinerinnen.[2][4] From 1998 the ensemble gave an annual guest performance in the village hall of Kusey in Saxony-Anhalt at the invitation of the local sports club's gymnastics group. For its 20th anniversary in 2011 it revived Michael Frayn's Der nackte Wahnsinn, which it had first performed in 1999.[5] The 2020 production, Norman Robbins's Schau nicht unters Rosenbeet!, premiered only in 2021.[6]
Repertoire
The group mainly performs comedies and farces, many of them by British and American authors such as Ray Cooney, Jack Popplewell and Ken Ludwig; in the mid-2000s it also staged fairy-tale plays for children.[7]
