The Bauerntheater Ismaning is an amateur theatre association in Ismaning in the district of Munich, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1921, it has played since 2000 in its own theatre, the Hainhalle, and its members also perform the Ismaning Schäfflertanz (coopers' dance).[1][2]

History

The association was founded in 1921. In May 2000, after 79 years, it moved into a theatre of its own, the Hainhalle in Erich-Zeitler-Straße, named after the Ismaning Hain (grove) that surrounds it; the opening was marked with the play Kesselfleisch.[1][3]

Repertoire

The group usually stages two to four productions a year, mostly Bavarian comedies and farces, alongside occasional boulevard plays such as Pension Schöller (2006) and Taxi Taxi (2004). Every five years it gives an open-air production on a stage in the grove next to the Hainhalle, among them Der Brandner Kaspar schaut ins Paradies (1996 and 2022), Holledauer Schimmel (2001), Die Trutzigen (2007), Der Habererbräu (2011) and Der arme Millionär (2016).[3][1] The production archive goes back to 1966.[3]

Venue

The Hainhalle seats about 180. Its grounds also allow an open-air stage to be set up for the five-yearly outdoor productions.[1]

Schäfflertanz

The Ismaning Schäfflertanz dates back to 1928 and has since been performed by members of the Bauerntheater. It follows the seven-year cycle of the Munich coopers, with the exception of the war year 1942; the most recent performance took place in 2026.[2]
