The Bauerntheater Prien e. V. (Priener Bauerntheater) is an amateur theatre association in Prien am Chiemsee in the district of Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. According to the regional press, Bauerntheater has been played in Prien since 1919; the association performs in the Chiemsee-Saal of the Haus des Gastes.[1]
History
The group celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019 with Der Geisterbräu; the COVID-19 pandemic then interrupted its work.[1] Rehearsals for the comedy Alles bloß Theater by Andrea Döring began in October 2021 and were suspended in November; the play was finally performed in May 2022 in the Chiemsee-Saal.[2]
At its annual meeting in 2023, chairman Franz Fritz reported 86 members with an average age of 54, up from 48 in 2008 and 51 in 2015. An honorary member recalled that in 1965 a members' meeting was held with five people and 100 marks in the till. Hilde Scheck was honoured for 75 years of membership; she had been active in the former Priener Heimatbühne from the age of 16.[1]
Repertoire
The group stages Bavarian comedies and farces, in recent years usually over Christmas and New Year. In December 2024 it played Ralph Wallner's Mucks Mäuserl Mord; from 26 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 it performed Im Pfarrhaus is der Deife los by Sebastian Kolb and Markus Scheble.[3][4]
Organisation
Long-standing members have received the gold and silver badges of honour of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V.[1]
