The Bergbühne Lüdersen e.V. is an amateur theatre group in Lüdersen, a village in the town of Springe, Lower Saxony, Germany.[1] Founded in 1978 as Spielkreis Lüdersen, it stages a three-act comedy each autumn and a summer programme of one-act plays and sketches.[2][1]
History
After a village community hall (Bergdorfhalle) was built in Lüdersen in 1973, a survey among residents showed interest in a local amateur theatre group. On 27 January 1978 nine villagers met and decided to found a theatre group; because only associations could receive funding from the local council, the Spielkreis Lüdersen was officially founded as an association on 19 June 1978. Its first two one-act plays, Das Notquartier and Der Kobold, were performed in December 1978.[2]
The first three-act play followed in 1979, a children's group was formed in 1980, and in the same year the group joined the Lower Saxony state association of amateur stages. In 1981 the association was renamed Bergbühne Lüdersen. From 1986 the summer theatre was extended to two days, and over the years the three-act play was also shown in Springe, Eimbeckhausen, Bad Münder, Pattensen, Arnum and Schliekum. In 1990 the group represented the town of Springe at the Müritzfest in its twin town Waren. It took part in the Niedersächsische Amateurtheatertage several times, including in Sankt Andreasberg (1984), on Baltrum (1986, 1993), in Gifhorn (1991) and in Lingen (1999).[3] In 2003 it hosted the Niedersächsische Amateurtheatertage in Lüdersen and Springe, and it celebrated anniversaries in 2003, 2008 and 2018.[4]
No performances took place in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[5] The group announced that from 2027 it would no longer perform in Pattensen and Hemmingen-Arnum.[1]
Repertoire
The repertoire consists of popular comedies, among them crime comedies since 1997, and short sketches, some of them in Low German. The summer theatre and sketch programmes are also offered for private and club celebrations.[3][5] The children's and youth group performs Christmas plays at the Lüdersen Advent market.[6] In 2018, for the 40th anniversary, the summer theatre revived several older one-act plays, including Der Kobold from 1978.[5][7]
