Das Provinztheater …alles was ihr wollt (also known as Provinztheater Westerwald) is an amateur theatre group based in Steinebach an der Wied in the Westerwald, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.[1] Founded in 2020, it has staged comedies as well as plays by Max Frisch and Urs Widmer.[2][1]
History
The group was founded in November 2020 at an inn in Hachenburg. Its first production followed in late summer 2022.[2]
In 2023 members of the group appeared on the regional radio station SWR4 of Südwestrundfunk to promote their production of Frisch's Biedermann und die Brandstifter. On 14 January 2024 the group was invited by the Verbandsgemeinde Hachenburg to present the play at the signing of the Hachenburger Erklärung gegen Rechts, a declaration against right-wing extremism.[2]
Repertoire
The group's first production in 2022 was Das Gasthaus an der Nister by Stefan Schröder.[2] It was followed by Frisch's Biedermann und die Brandstifter (2023/2024), Urs Widmer's Top Dogs (2025) and Der letzte Pinguin (2026), which the group describes as a comedy about the climate catastrophe.[2][1][3] The 2026 production was performed at village venues in the region, including an inn in Elkenroth and the community hall in Wölferlingen.[3]
Organisation
With Das Gasthaus an der Nister the group received a wildcard to perform at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Landesverband Amateurtheater Rheinland-Pfalz e. V.[2]
