Die Bühne 2.0 is a parish-based amateur theatre group in the Munich area, Bavaria, Germany, that performs comedies, crime comedies and plays in Bavarian dialect. It was formerly called Heimatbühne St. Bonifatius and now plays in the parish hall of St. Konrad in Haar.[1]
History
The group traces its origins to 1978, when Xaver Gröppmair, the first priest of the parish of St. Bonifatius, which had been founded a year earlier, looked for volunteers to build a skittle alley as a social meeting point. After finishing it, the men went on to build and found a theatre stage under the guidance of Joseph Lipp, and friends and other parishioners joined as actors. Under the name Heimatbühne St. Bonifatius the stage staged both comic and socially critical plays for a growing regular audience. With the arrival of younger members it later added boulevard and crime comedies to its repertoire. On moving to a new venue, the parish hall of St. Konrad in Haar, it adopted the name Die Bühne 2.0, while continuing to perform plays in Bavarian dialect.[1]
Repertoire
The group names as earlier productions the classics Der verkaufte Großvater, Der Ehestreik and Die falsche Katz' as well as newer plays such as Bäckermeister Strietzl and Schick' mir keine Blumen; Lasst uns lügen and Pension Schaller played to full houses.[1] Its list of past productions also includes Der Neurosenkavalier and, as the first production after the break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Heut' spiel'n die Engerl Theater in Haar, a Bavarian comedy set in a parish.[2] A guest performance of this piece planned for 2023 at St. Lukas am Westkreuz in Munich was cancelled because of technical problems at the venue.[3]
