Die Pflegerbühne e. V. is an amateur theatre association in the district of Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany, that performs Bavarian comedies and farces on its own stage in the Pfleger Theaterstadl, a barn theatre at Lohen in the municipality of Schechen near Rott am Inn.[1][2]
History
The group was brought into being in 1996 by Georg Weber, known locally as "Pfleger Schorsch" of Lohen. Its first production was the farce Der findige Hausl, directed by Balthasar Geidobler. Directors in later years included Geidobler, Rudi Heinrich, Toni Müller, Andreas Kern, Jörg Herwegh, Christian Kreß, Karl Schuhbeck, Franz Hasieber, Lydia Lößl and Burgi Schaber. In 2007 the theatre group separated from the Pfleger Theaterstadl as a venue business: Weber founded the registered association Die Pflegerbühne e. V. with about 30 members and chaired it until 2015, when he stepped down for family and health reasons and was succeeded by Burgi Schaber.[2][3]
Venue
The group plays on its "own" stage in the Pfleger Theaterstadl at Lohen 15, which has its own car park. The Theaterstadl also hosts guest performances of cabaret and theatre and concerts by groups from all over Germany.[2][1] Before the group's founding, the venue held summer Theaterstadlfest events from 1993.[4]
Repertoire
The repertoire consists mainly of Bavarian comedies and farces, with occasionally two productions a year. A recurring piece is the Christmas play Und des am heiligen Abend by Andreas Kern, premiered by the group in 2006 and revived for the sixth time in 2023. No plays were staged in 2020 and 2021.[4]
