Die Schwammastürer
Die Schwammastürer are an amateur theatre group located in Judenbach, Thuringia, Germany. They annually perform comedies in Judenbach and surrounding villages. The play texts are written by their theatre director. The group performed in their early years mainly in Thuringian dialect.
History
Die Schwammastürer were founded by Steffi Amhof who brought together a performance for the gathering of elderly people in Judenbach in 1995. Due to the success of this first play Sei dach niär so dumm, Opa (Don't be so stupid, Grandpa) the group decided to continue performing. Amhof continued to write plays and direct the amateur group until 2005. The plays are mainly developed by the amateur theatre group who picks up on themes and topics that appear relevant to them. Between 2020 and 2022 the amateur theatre did not perform due to the covid restrictions, but took up playing again in September 2022. In 2025 they celebrated their 30th Jubilee. More recently they performed play texts from professional dramatists.
