erlesene oper e. V. is an amateur opera association founded in 2011 in Halfing in the district of Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It aims to revive unknown or forgotten operas, always performed in German, with soloists, choir and orchestra drawn largely from the Rosenheim region; its performances take place mainly in Rosenheim.[1]
History
The association was founded in Halfing on 22 September 2011. Its name is a double meaning: the performance material for forgotten operas often has to be searched for "like a detective" or "read out" (erlesen) from manuscripts. The association also wants to give young local artists stage experience, and many pupils and students play in its orchestra or appear on stage; according to the association, about 600 children attended a free children's performance in one season with support from local savings-bank foundations. Its musical director is Georg Hermansdorfer.[1] For its 2012 production of Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf's last opera Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor (1796), long thought lost, Hermansdorfer reconstructed the work over a year and a half.[2] The association was featured in the Bayerischer Theaterspiegel of the Verband Bayerischer Amateurtheater e. V. in 2020.[1]
Since 2020 a second series, Oper am Klavier, has presented operas surviving only in piano reduction in a simple street-theatre style with piano accompaniment, beginning with Max Bruch's Scherz, List und Rache. The association also gives moderated opera concerts, for example at the Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Rosenheim in November 2026.[3][4]
